Before you go

How long each place takes, what needs a booking, what is closed or changing, and how to check a visit. Everything here comes from the places' own pages or the guides named in each entry.

How long each place takes

Times come from the guide named in the last column. Where no guide gives a time, the row says it is our estimate.

What to check

Check the place, not us

We do not print hours. Open the venue's own page, or its booking page, on the day you go. When we read Ithra's site it showed every weekday as closed, which was plainly a display fault, so a page can be wrong too: if two sources disagree, phone.

Places closed or changing

Masmak Fortress was under restoration in early 2025. The Hejaz Railway Museum was reported to be partly under renovation, and Visit Saudi showed a temporary closure notice next to its opening hours. Confirm both before you travel.

Prayer times and Fridays

House of Saud reports that the Exhibition of the Two Holy Mosques Architecture closes briefly for each prayer. Several places in our sources open later on Friday, so a Friday morning plan can fail.

Booking

House of Saud says the National Museum uses timed tickets booked through the Ministry of Culture and the Black Gold Museum is reserved through Discover Culture. Book only through the venue or the ministry, never through a reseller.

Makkah and Madinah entry rules

Makkah has a sacred area that is closed to non-Muslims, and there are rules around the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah. We describe the museums but we do not list the rules, which the authorities set and change. Check Visit Saudi before you plan.

Walking to Hira Cave

Hira Cultural District says a paved path from the site is the only route to the cave, with signs, rest areas and safety measures. Start from the site, not from a side track.

Getting around

Most places here are reached by car, taxi or ride-hailing. Each entry has a Directions button that opens Google Maps with the venue as the destination, so the route starts from wherever you are.

Reviews and ratings

We print no star ratings because we cannot stand behind a number. The Visitor reviews button opens Google Maps, where people who went write and update their own reviews.

How a place gets on this site

A place is added only when we can point to a page that describes it. Each entry names its sources. If sources disagree, the entry says so. If we cannot confirm a detail, it is left out.
